When reverse rotation is not an option: PGR gear units with a backstop. On an inclined conveyor, the load may try to drive the mechanism backwards after a stop. A backstop addresses this by blocking rotation in one direction. The photo shows an industrial PGR gear unit with a substantial housing, foot mounting and a…
Set up a variable frequency drive without connecting mains power? With the Inovance MD630, you can. Pictured: the Inovance MD630, a drive series supplied by EnergoStar. Its features are useful both when building a control cabinet and when servicing equipment: 🔹 Prepare parameters via USB-C. Read and write parameters from a computer using USB power…
Sometimes, an engineer’s best workday looks completely uneventful: the equipment runs, production stays on schedule, and there are no urgent calls. Almost nothing to report. 😄 But that “ordinary” day is built on countless decisions: a properly selected drive, precise alignment, secure mountings, and a well-configured control system. The shaft should rotate. The housing should…
“If it fails, we’ll buy the same one.” What if it’s no longer in regular sale? A production line can run for decades. During that time, several generations of PLCs, operator panels and drives may come and go. A concrete example is Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 and ET 200M. These families entered the PM410 discontinuation stage…
How long does it take to open a control cabinet and make sense of the wiring? Much depends on how the panel is laid out. This automation panel highlights practical details that matter during installation and maintenance: 🔹 Terminal blocks arranged in rows make it easier to check connections systematically. 🔹 Wiring ducts keep conductors…
Upgrade the drive. Keep the line’s mechanical design. Reduce operating costs. That is the approach EnergoStar implemented for a potato chip manufacturer exporting more than 95% of its production. The existing worm gear units were replaced with DRIVE-EXPERTS hypoid geared motors. Dimensional compatibility was a key factor. It allowed the new drives to be installed…
